Clogging Prevention & Reliability
Technical highlight of KOLEBURG: Unique pump impeller design
A large channel diameter will prevent it from becoming blocked.
Spiral centrifugal pumps have excellent anti-clogging properties. Their open, large-diameter channels provide high efficiency and anti-clogging properties, making it easy to transport bulk solids and long-fiber materials.
The spiral section produces a spiral propulsion effect, and the blade edge of the impeller is sickle-shaped. The replenishment of the blades gradually increases along the wheel direction, guiding the liquid flow and pipe objects to move near the axis. Additionally, the spiral action propels them along the collection into the centrifugal section while providing superior suction capabilities and reduced cavitation.

How to Ensure Long-Term Stable Operation of Pet Food Production Pumps?
1. Key Points of Daily Inspection and Monitoring
- Real-time monitor pump flow, head, motor current, and medium temperature; install intelligent sensors for abnormal alarms (over-temperature, over-current, leakage)
- Check for media leakage at seals and flanges; stop the machine immediately for maintenance if leakage occurs to avoid cross-contamination
- Regularly clean the pump inlet filter screen to prevent blockage by fiber and meat residue, which may affect suction efficiency
- Monitor pump noise and vibration; abnormal noise or excessive vibration may indicate impeller blockage or bearing wear
2. Regular Maintenance Schedule
Maintenance Cycle | Key Tasks | Quality Requirements |
|---|---|---|
Daily | Flush the pump with clean water after shutdown; check lubricating oil level; clean pump surface and filter screen | No residual media in the pump; normal lubricating oil level; no dirt accumulation |
Weekly | Inspect wear of mechanical seals and gaskets; test impeller rotation flexibility; calibrate flow meters | No seal damage; smooth impeller rotation; accurate instrument calibration |
Monthly | Disassemble and clean the pump body and impeller; inspect component corrosion; disinfect contact surfaces | No scale or residue; no obvious corrosion; bacterial count ≤10 CFU/mL on contact surfaces |
Quarterly | Test pump performance; replace lubricating oil; conduct comprehensive hygiene testing | Performance degradation ≤5%; 100% hygiene compliance |
Annually | Replace worn components (impeller, seal); conduct dynamic balancing calibration; update maintenance records | Pump performance meets design requirements; complete maintenance records |
3. Common Fault Handling for Pet Food Production Pumps
- Impeller Blockage: Stop the pump immediately, disassemble and clean the impeller with high-pressure water; optimize pre-treatment (add fiber collector); replace damaged filter screen
- Media Leakage: Replace worn seals with food-grade certified products; clean and disinfect the leakage area; check and repair the sealing surface
- Reduced Efficiency: Inspect for impeller wear or pipeline scaling; clean or replace components; install frequency converter to adjust speed according to production demand
- Abnormal Noise/Vibration: Check for bearing wear or impeller imbalance; replace bearings; perform dynamic balancing calibration; tighten loose bolts
